Spectrophotometric determination of uranium in water samples after cloud point extraction using nonionic surfactant Triton X-114
Authors
Abstract:
A cloud point extraction process using the nonionic surfactant Triton X-114 to extracturanium from aqueous solutions was investigated. The method is based on the complexationreaction of uranium with Arsenazo III and micelle-mediated extraction of the complex. Theoptimal extraction and reaction conditions (e.g., pH, reagent concentration, effect of time) werestudied, and the analytical characteristics of the method (e.g., limit of detection, linear range)were obtained. Linearity was obeyed in the range of 1.0-150.0 ng mL-1 of U(IV) ion. Thedetection limit of the method was 0.3 ng mL-1 of uranium ion. The interference effect of someanions and cations was also tested. The method was applied to the determination of uranium inwater samples.

A cloud point extraction process using the nonionic surfactant Triton X-114 for extracting mercury from aqueous solutions was investigated. The method is based on the complexation reaction of Hg(II) with Thio-Michler's Ketone (TMK) and micelle-mediated extraction of the complex. full textCloud Point Extraction of Palladium as Chelate with 1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol Using Triton X-114 Prior to Determination in Real Samples by ETAAS
A pre-concentration and determination methodology for palladium in real samples at ultra-trace levels by 1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol (PAN) was developed. The analyte in the initial aqueous solution, acidified with HCl, was complexed with PAN and Triton X-114 was added as a surfactant. The surfactant-rich phase was diluted with concentrated HNO3 (65%, w/w) after phase separation. Then, the conce...
full textFlame atomic absorption spectrometric determination of trace quantities of cadmium in water samples after cloud point extraction in Triton X-114 without added chelating agents.
A new micell-mediated phase separation method for preconcentration of ultra-trace quantities of cadmium as a prior step to its determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry has been developed. The method is based on the cloud point extraction (CPE) of cadmium in iodide media with Triton X-114 in the absence of any chelating agent. The optimal extraction and reaction conditions (e.g., ac...

In the proposed work, dimethylglyoxime (DMG) was used as the chelating agent and Triton X-114 w...
full textCloud Point Extraction and Spectrophotometric Determination of Uranium (VI) in Water Samples after Mixed Micelle-Mediated Extraction Using Chromotrope 2R as Complexing Agent
A rapid, selective and sensitive method for the preconcentration and determination of uranium (VI) by cloud point extraction (CPE) was developed. The method was based on the color reaction of 5.00 ng mL uranium (VI) with 1.5×10 mol L of chromotrope 2R in the presence of 0.015 mol L potassium iodide at pH 8 in HEPES buffer and mixed micelle-mediated extraction of complex. The mixture of a nonion...
